Laser Liposuction: What Is It?
Laser liposuction is designed to remove fat while firming the skin. Many people find that losing weight through diet and exercise tends to “miss” certain areas, such as the lower belly or thighs. Liposuction is a way to reshape these areas. Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures, and it has undergone fantastic improvements in the past few years, such as the development of laser liposuction. Now you have the opportunity to lose your double chin or “turkey” neck, tighten those thighs, or narrow your waist!
Dr. Mok and Dr. Kotlus perform laser liposuction as an outpatient procedure. Most of their Michigan laser liposuction patients experience minimal discomfort, and many of them are able to resume normal activities in less than a day.

Laser Liposuction (CoolLipo™, SmartLipo™, LaserSculpt)
Laser liposuction, also known as laser lipolysis, has several basic principal advantages: It allows the fat to be pre-treated, pre-tunneled and pre-softened before liposuction. The fat is then removed with gentle suction.
Microsuction refers to the use of tiny cannulas to suction fat (Micro Liposuction). The original liposuction procedures involved using 1/2-3/4 inch thick tubes.
Tumescent technique refers to a method whereby the tissues are first injected with a tumescent solution. This anesthetic solution contains diluted lidocaine and epinephrine that numbs the area and prevents bleeding. The tumescent technique is a standard practice for liposuction; however, some surgeons still use older techniques called the “super wet” technique. Dr. Mok and Dr. Kotlus use the tumescent technique because it minimizes discomfort and bruising, and improves the safety of their laser liposuction Michigan patients.
Erchonia Laser Assisted Liposuction
The Erchonia is a cold diode laser that alters tissue environments. It has often been talked about as the “healing” laser. This laser can be performed at the same time as liposuction to aid in recovery.
